Seven out of ten Russians are for Medvedev and Putin
Moscow. Around 70 percent of Russians are happy with the political activities undertaken by the head of state tandem. However, the individual rating of Medvedev and Putin declined by 6 to 7 percent in January.

Whether authoritarian like Putin or more liberal like Medvedev: Russians seem to be happy regardless with their political duo. According to the latest survey by the Center Lavada, 72 percent of Russians currently endorse the actions of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. 69 percent are happy with President Dmitri Medvedev.
|
However, in December, the ratings for the two leaders, had been considerably higher - at 79 percent for Putin and 75 percent for Medvedev.

Domodedovo not cause of loss of confidence
|
The terrorist attack at Domodedovo did not cause the loss in confidence, since the survey had been completed prior to the incident. The Public Opinion Fund could not explain the decline in approval rating with the tandem: Vice director for Lavada, Alexei Grashdankin sees a general "fatigue due to the harshness of the crisis" as the cause.

70 percent - a soft cushion
|
As Putin and Medvedev are so close together in the favour of the voters, at least at present they will not be guided by popularity issues when it comes to clarify who will run at the presidential election in 2012.
|
With a rating of 70 percent the erosion of support does not represent a serious threat for the two leader’s political future: Politicians in other countries could only dream of such an approval rating, so Grashdankin.
They are aware how low a state leader’s approval rate in Russia can slip, Boris Yeltsin’s rating was only 3 percent before his resignation in December 1999.
