Kudrin predicts Putins victory in presidential elections
Moscow. The ex-Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, who recently changed sides and joined the opposition, predicts a victory in the polls for his previous boss Vladimir Putin. The opposition lacks of a suitable opponent. nevertheless, the Kremlind will have to make confessions, he says.

"Actually, everybody is aware of this now: Whoever stands against Vladimir Putin in the elections in March, beyond the already registered candidates, will lose in completely honest vote counts, " writes Alexei Kudrin in his blog at the radio station Echo Moscow's. To build up an opponent Kudrin estimates that the opposition would need one and a half to two years. T

he currently vest known opponents to Putin at the poling stations are Billionaire Michail Prochorov, Communist Party leader Gennadi Zyuganov, populist leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky and the old -liberal Grigori Yavlinsky.

Nevertheless, the leading party will have to make concessions to the opposition. There is an enormous cliff between the two sides which will not easily be bridged. To bring them closer, the Kremlin would have to admit that the Duma election had been unfair, states the politician.
