Despite being in disgrace with Medvedev: Kundrin holds on to two positions
Moscow. The dismissal of Finance Minister Kudrin by President Medvedev was ruthless - yet he manages to hold on to two positions. His task is to assist with the promotion of Moscow into an international financial center.

Vice-Finance Minister Sergey Strotshak as well as Medvedev's economic advisor Arkady Dvorkovitch confirmed today that Alexei Kudrin will continue to be chairman for both, the National Banking Council and the Presidential Advisory Council on the financial market.
Kudrin may still be Chairman The first mentioned committee is meeting today still under Kudrin's chairmanship. According to Stortshak, Kudrin's task is to deal 'intensively with the question of the formation of an international financial center in Russia'. This area remains his responsibility.
Dvorkovitch explained, Medvedev still thinks of Kudrin as a good economic specialist. However, he will only keep the two posts until a new Finance Minister has been announced. At the IMF, the World Bank and anti-crisis fund of the Eurasian Economic Community Russia is not represented by Kudrin, but through the current acting Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
Short and painful dismissal after criticizing Medvedev Kudrin said that after the announcement of the 'tandem' that the government should be run by Dmitry Medvedev as Prime Minister after the next presidential election that he will be no longer available as a minister. He combined this with sharp criticism of in his opinion, the irresponsible spending policies in the military field under Medvedev.
On Monday, the long-serving Finance Minister was first publicly reprimanded and later, in consultation with the current Prime Minister and designated new President Vladimir Putin, dismissed.
The dismissal was, for Russian circumstances, 'unfriendly': Kudrin did not even return to the Treasury to pack his personal belongings. Even the loyal Russian state media treated the former Minister as a persona non grata.
