Two stowaways caught hanging on outside the Sapsan
St Petersburg. Two young people, who wanted to travel on this original and also dangerous way from St Petersburg to Moscow, but they did not travel far. They had tied themselves up between two carriages of the "Sapsan".
The stowaways, a young mand and his girlfriend, both born in 1991 and from the Moscow area, had arrived at the train station earlier on with an "electrichka", which allowed them to bypass the access controls to the high-speed train, that was ready to depart.
Witnesses prevent freezing to death The two had tied themselves to the train (in between the space of two carriages) with safty belts. How they thought they would survive the four hour journey at temperatures around the freezing point and at a speed of 250 km/hour was not disclosed.
They did not enter the train completely unnoticed. The station police was tipped off, that there were passengers traveling on the Spasan that were not inside the train as officially required.
Free trip to Moscow - under arrest Therefore the train was stopped within a few kilometers of departing, at "Navalotchnaja" station, , and the two risk loving stowaways were handed over to police officers.
Once the necessary paperwork had been filled in, the wish of the two stowaways, to travel to Moscow free of charge, was fulfilled - but under police arrest.
