Ostankino - TV tower with signal inteference

Moscow's TV tower, 537 meters high, is the second highest in the world, and - as satirists like to say, after it caught fire in August 2000 - the world's tallest ruin. The tower in the north of Moscow, built from 1960-1967, used to be a favourite destination for tourists due to its viewing platform at a height of 337m.

The lifts took only 58 seconds to speed tourists to the top. The point of the tower sways in storms around a radius of 10m.

Directly beside the TV tower and the Ostankino television centre lies the stately house and grounds of Ostankino. Previously the house was the country residence of the eponymous Russia noble family.

After the October Revolution, a ‘Museum of the Artistic Works of Serfs’ was established here.
